Event cancelled due to tragic accident, which resulted in death of VLCC Cycling Official, Gordon Boehm.

Gordon Boehm, 70, of Park Holme, was standing in a bicycle lane on Victoria Rd when he was hit by a station wagon that had collided with a hatchback on the intersection of Victoria Rd and Strathfield Tce, about 9.45am yesterday.

He was taken to hospital and died later.

Mr Boehm had worked as an accredited corner marshal for the Veterans and Ladies Cycling Club for three years.

Club president Raey de Ross said Mr Boehm was a tireless volunteer who was well respected within the club.

"We are all just totally distraught," he said.

The drivers of the cars - a man, 75, and a woman, 78 - escaped serious injury.
